Special Education

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) nationally recognized Master's degree in Teaching, Learning, and Leadership - option in special education (TLL - SPED) is designed to prepare educators to work effectively with children and youth with mild to moderate disabilities.

The master’s program in TLL-SPED includes 36 hours of coursework and completion of a thesis or creative component project that provides students with a structured capstone experience to apply special education knowledge in a research or classroom setting. The TLL-SPED program encompasses two primary pathways: Advanced Educator and Initial Certification. Classes are scheduled during evenings and weekends, and can be taken on a part-time or full-time basis. Most classes are offered on the OSU-Stillwater and Tulsa campuses. Classes utilize a variety of instructional formats including face-to-face classroom interaction, compressed video, and hybrid design, where instruction includes both classroom interaction and on-line learning.
To be eligible for state certification students must pass Teacher Certification Examinations.
