Why study Dietetics online through OSU?

The Master of Science in Dietetics is ideal for those working in dietetics who want to enhance their skills and advance their careers. Offered fully online, the program provides maximum flexibility for credentialed, practicing dietitians. This master's program is designed for Registered Dietitians (RDs), individuals who are RD eligible or those who hold a Didactic Program in Dietetics verification statement.

Format

The 36-hour, 100-percent online dietetics degree can be completed at your desired pace so you can balance your education with your professional and personal responsibilities. Typically, students complete the master's program in three years, taking one or two courses a semester. This program is offered as part of the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (Great Plains IDEA).

 

Curriculum

This program is part of the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GPIDEA), which allows you to take courses from alliance universities across the country and leverage the expertise of renowned faculty.

 

Dietitians can customize their degree to specialize in a preferred area of dietetics, including dietetic entrepreneurship, financial management, chronic disease prevention, nutrition for exercise and sport, research in dietetics, nutrition for aging populations, maternal and infant nutrition, obesity, medical nutrition therapy and nutrition in cancer and immunology.

Admissions

Students applying to the online dietetics program:

  • Must hold the credential of Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist; OR
  • Must have met both the academic and supervised requirements of the Commission on Dietetic Registration and be ready to sit for the national credentialing exam
  • Must hold a verification statement in a Didactic Program in Dietetics

 

Students may apply in fall, spring or summer. It is recommended that application materials be submitted at least three months prior to the preferred starting term.

To Dietitian in consultationapply, submit the following:

  • OSU Graduate College application
  • Professional resume
  • Professional goal statement: Describe your professionals goals and explain how completion of the program will support those goals. 
  • Three professional letters of reference on letterhead
  • One official transcript from each college or university attended

*A GRE test score is not required.

Cost

Tuition rates for this program are the same for both in-state and out-of-state students. Students are responsible for textbooks and course materials.
