Format

The 36-hour master’s program is offered 100-percent online and can be completed at your desired pace. Courses are semester-based and coursework must be completed to meet assignment deadlines. Typically, students complete the master's program in three years, taking one or two courses a semester.

 

Curriculum

The curriculum includes student learning outcomes including: designing and delivering quality community programming; empowering families during times of transition or stress; cultivating strengths of individuals and families; recognizing the role of diversity in family and community dynamics; and understanding the unique strengths and challenges of military life.

 

While this degree program does not lead to licensure, students may take the certification exam to become a certified family life educator.

Admissions

Students may apply in fall, spring or summer. It is recommended that application materials be submitted at least three months prior to the preferred starting term.

 

To apply to the Family and Community Services, M.S. program submit the following:

• Graduate College application 
• Professional resume
• Professional goal statement: Describe your professionals goals and explain how completion of the program will support those goals. 
• Three professional letters of reference on letterhead
• One original transcript from each college or university attended
• A GRE test score is not required. 

 

Cost

Tuition rates for this program are the same for both in-state and out-of-state students. Students are responsible for textbooks and course materials.
