Dr. Jon Loffi, assistant professor in aviation and space, shared his knowledge through a fun and interactive presentation with local school children on October 5, during National Youth Science day, hosted by Oklahoma 4-H.

Loffi, along with Dr. Jeff Sallee, OSU 4-H Youth Development, and Zachary Barbeau, Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering, shared experiments with students age 9 – 14.

4-H National Youth Science Day has engaged millions of youth globally in STEM learning and experiments. This year’s hands-on science challenge explored the science behind Drones and how they are being used to solve real world problems. Additionally, the children involved learned flight dynamics and aircraft types, remote sensing and flight control, and safety and regulations. Emphasis was placed on technology, career paths, and education to prepare our youth for an exciting career.
