Recreation Management Partners on Rec Sport Event
Monday, April 24, 2017
Taryn Price, assistant professor in Recreation Management and graduate students Nicole Been (Ph.D.) and Javon Linley (M.S.) continued the partnership between collegiate and high school students by planning another recreational sport event in Guthrie.
The group worked with students at Langston University majoring in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) and Guthrie High School students to plan “Spring Palooza” held on April 15 at Guthrie High School. Activities included a 1-mile fun run, recreational activities for all ages, special needs accommodations, and a Bounce House.
The youth-adult partnership is designed to enhance youth leadership and civic engagement. Proceeds from the event will be supplied to the Special Jays, Guthrie’s special needs program, and Langston University’s HPER program.
