NASA Education Assists with Rocketry Project for 4-H National Youth Science Day

Monday, October 20, 2014

Oklahoma State University College of Education professor and OSU NASA Education Projects Coordinator Steve Marks partnered with Jeff Sallee, Oklahoma 4-H Youth Development, and Oklahoma State 4-H Program Leader Kevin Allen to teach students how to create and launch a rocket for 4-H’s National Youth Science Day.

The project, designed to promote STEM education and careers, was featured on SUNUP TV and can be viewed here: http://youtu.be/tRXRsgFnj5s

The challenge asked students to design, construct, and test an aerodynamic food transportation device that can deliver food to disaster victims. OSU NASA Education Projects and Johnson Space Center also worked together to develop rocketry education videos and resource materials for 4-H programs in Texas and Oklahoma.

The College of Education is home to OSU's NASA Education Projects office, which provides educational support services to the NASA Digital Learning Network and the NASA Johnson Space Center Strategic Education Alliance, reaching thousands of educators and students from Oklahoma, the nation and the world.
