Biography

Dr. Julie Angle, joined the faculty at Oklahoma State University in 2009 and serves as the director of the Secondary Science Education program for the College of Education. At OSU, Dr. Angle teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in science education. In 2013 Dr. Angle received the University Teaching Excellence Award presented by the Oklahoma Science Teacher Association. She served as co-chair for the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards ? Science Standards Revision Committee in 2011-2012, and on the executive committee for the development of the revised Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science in 2013-2014. She works closely with science faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences and has received over 5 million dollars in grant money as a PI or Co-PI. She has been invited to present at over 30 international, national and state conferences. Formally a high school biology and chemistry teacher in Alva (23 years) and Medford (2 years), Oklahoma, Dr. Angle achieved national board certification in 2003. Also in 2003 she was inducted into the Oklahoma Science and Engineering Fair Hall of Fame. She was appointed to the Oklahoma state textbook committee in 2005, and was selected as a finalist for the Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2007. Prior to her faculty appointment at OSU she was selected as a 2008-2009 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow and worked in Arlington, VA for the National Science Foundation in the Office of Cyberinfrastruture where she led the learning and workforce development taskforce. Dr. Angle is the past president of the Oklahoma Science Teachers Association and currently serves on several executive boards and advisory committees in support of science education.
