Extension Educator, FCS/4-H

The Arthritis Exercise Program is part of the Take Control with Exercise program.  The program improves quality of life by offering participants these outcomes:

  • Reduce pain and stiffness
  • Restore joint range of motion
  • Increase muscle strength
  • Improve balance and coordination
  • Decrease fatigue and increase endurance
  • Improve overall health status

The “Nutrition Education for Families” program includes a series of four nutrition classes taught to 3rd-6th grade students in classes at school.  During the final session the students prepare lunch using healthy recipes.  Handouts of nutritional information and recipes are sent home with each student.  This was followed by the opportunity for students and their families to participate in an evening Family Meals Cooking School.  The families learn nutritional information; basic food preparation and safety skills; and work as a group to prepare a nutritious dinner using healthy recipes.  This program improves quality of life by empowering all members of the family to make healthy food choices.
