OSU/Tulsa Public Schools Education Partnership

OSU and TPS (Tulsa Public Schools) are now recruiting for the 2016-2017 school year.

This partnership was designed to exceptionally prepare teacher candidates who wish to teach in a high need district. Participants will 1) complete high-quality field experiences and clinical practice with effective urban teachers, 2) participate in additional professional development addressing important topics on teaching in high need schools, and 3) if employed by TPS, participate in two years of induction/mentoring support.

To be admitted to the program, OSU teacher education candidates must complete a written application and interview with educators representing OSU and TPS.


Admission Process

Admission is open to Secondary Education students who have at least 12 credit hours and have not yet completed Field Experience in Secondary School (CIED 3313). Admission is open to Elementary Education students who have at least 12 credit hours and have not yet completed Middle Level Education (CIED 3622). If you are currently enrolled in either of these courses, you are encouraged to apply.

Interviews

Student who plan to apply will need to contact Dr. Nowell to set up your interview.  Interviews are approximately fifteen minutes. To sign up, contact Dr. Nowell at 405-744-3613 or shanedra.nowell@okstate.edu. If you leave a voicemail or email, please be sure to include the following information:

• Your name.
• Elementary or secondary education major.
• Dr. Nowell will respond to confirm your time or adjust it to another appointment as close to your desired time as possible. Be sure to confirm your time with Dr. Nowell if you do not receive a response within 48 hours.
