Current and Past Research Fellows

  • Yijing Wang, Fudan University, December 2018 – June 2019

    Ms. Wang is a doctoral candidate at Fudan University.  She received her Master’s degree in Journalism from Fudan University and double bachelor degrees from Fudan University and Waseda University. Currently, she works as a senior staff of student affairs at Fudan University.  With great passion for student affairs, Ms. Wang also worked as an assistant researcher in campus planning & policy research and a manager of volunteer affairs in the media center for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.

     

    Area of Focus: leadership development, professional development of student affairs staff

  • Jue Wang, Fudan University, October 2017 – April 2018

    Mr. Wang is a doctoral candidate at Fudan University.  He graduated from Fudan University with both his bachelor and Master’s degree.  In 2017 his position was the Chief of Graduate Student Affairs in the Department of Material Sciences.  He was selected by Fudan University to be the second Visiting Scholar at OSU and was fully funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council.  During his 8 years as a student affairs professional at Fudan University, he has worked in various student affairs functions such as campus life, residential life, volunteer services, and university organization department.  Throughout his career, he has received many top awards in Fudan University and was named a “top ten” student affairs advisor at Fudan.

     

    Area of Focus: graduate student services and academic support, college student development theory

  • Yan Xu, Fudan University, December 2016 – June 2017

    Ms. Yan Xu is a doctoral candidate at Fudan University.  Ms. Xu received her Master’s degrees from Fudan University and her bachelor degree from East China Normal University.  Before Ms. Xu visited OSU, she worked as a student affairs advisor in Career Development Office at Fudan University. In 2016, she was selected by Fudan University to be the first Visiting Scholar at OSU and was fully funded by the Chinese Scholarship Council.

     

    Area of Focus: orientation program and leadership program

  • Xueying Hou, Sun Yat-sen University, January 2015 – January 2016

    Ms. Hou is a doctoral candidate at Sun Yat-sen University.  She graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University with her bachelor degree in Ecology and Master’s degree in Business Administration.  With the great passion of engaging in the students affairs work, she currently serves as the student affairs advisor for the School of Software.

     

    Area of Focus: new student orientation and career advising

  • Jieying Liu, Sun Yat-sen University, January 2015 – January 2016

    Ms. Liu received her Ph.D. from South China Normal University.  She graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University with both her bachelor and Master’s degree.  Ms. Liu’s interest in campus engagement led her to choose students affairs as her career in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Sun Yat-Sen University.  Her current position is Deputy Director of Student Affairs at Sun Yat-sen University.

     

    Area of Focus: new student orientation and housing programs

  • Yunzhi Pan, Sun Yat-sen University, January 2015 - January 2016

    Mr. Pan graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University with a bachelor degree in chemistry and a Master’s degree in polymer chemistry and physics.  He held multiple positions in the field of student affairs, including the Section Member of the Administration Office of Sun Yat-Sen University, the Deputy Section Chief of the Coordination Section of Student Affairs Office, and the Section Chief of the Student Loan Section of Student Affairs Office.  He is currently the Associate Dean for Student Affairs at the School of Marine Sciences.

     

    Area of Focus: campus life programing, orientation program and leadership development

  • Bojun Yu, Sun Yat-sen University, January 2015 – January 2016

    Mr. Yu is a doctoral candidate at Sun Yat-sen University.  He graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University with both his bachelor degree in Computer Science and Technology and a Master’s degree in Educational Economy and Management.  While pursuing his Master’s degree, Mr. Yu started his student affairs career at Sun Yat-Sen University as a staff member.  After finishing his Master’s degree, he continued his career as a Senior Advisor in the School of Mathematical and Computational Science from May 2008 to December 2012, and then Director of Youth League Committee since May 2012.

     

    Area of Focus: leadership development, extracurricular activities and programing 

  • Ge Zhen (Jenny), August 2019 to December 2020

    Ms. Ge Zhen has been serving as a senior student affairs advisor at Southwest Jiaotong University since 2011. She is also a lecturer for public policy and career planning courses for freshman in the College of Mechanical Engineering of SWJTU. She holds a national certificate of University Career Group Counseling. Ms. Zhen has published several articles on comparative studies on Chinese and American Student Affairs system.

     

    Area of focus: student academics and career counseling and international student affairs

  • Dr. Peng Wang, August 2019 to August 2020

    Dr. Peng Wang is a professor in School of School of Public and Administration at South China Normal University. He has been a full-time faculty member at the institution for over 13 years. His research interests center around the theories and practices of student affairs with an emphasis on student orientation, leadership programs for student, student organizations and comparative study of study affairs between China and the U.S. He received his bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from XiangTian University, his master’s degree in Political Science and his doctorate degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from South China Normal University. 

     

    Area of focus: minority students identity development in China and Chinese student affairs system
