Virtual Reality

Computer-simulated, three-dimension environments
Virtual reality can either emulate the real world or act as made up, imaginary worlds, catering to visual, auditory, haptic, olfactory and taste senses. While commonly used for entertainment and education, it also offers immense research opportunities studying human behavior.
  • Passive 3D projector system
  • Oculus Rift CV 1, HTV Vice and Gear VR mobile head mounted display systems
  • Interactive screens and digital screens
  • Gesture-based control devices (Myo) and basic-control devices (joy sticks)
  • 3D mobile scanners

Augmented Reality

A variation of virtual reality
While virtual reality completely immerses the user inside a computer-generated environment, augmented reality allows the overlaying of virtual elements on to the physical environment. Considered a hybrid of virtual and physical environments, it supplements reality rather than replacing it.
  • Microsoft HoloLens
  • Vuzix STAR XLD and Epson Moverio BT200 augmented reality display system
  • Mobile devices and desktop with augmented reality capability and software

3D Printing

Digital prototyping
Physical prototypes in design are used to provide a representation of final design outcomes and improve and obtain feedback on the design process.
  • Maker Bot 3D printer
  • Ultimaker 2-3D printer
  • Matter and Form 3D desktop scanner

Psychophysiological Equipment

The lab is also equipped with the following:
  • Perception neuron motion capture system
  • fNIR Functional Near Infrared optical imaging system
  • Biopac ECG electrocardiogram amplifier system
  • Biopac EDA electrodermal activity amplifier system
  • Emotiv electroencephalography (EGG) device
