I Speak R4T/Online Training
I Speak R is for Thursday (R4T) / Online Training
The R is for Thursday (R4T) online training provides foundational information about working with Oklahoma college-bound foster youth/alumni and foster alumni currently in college. It was made possible through Oklahoma professionals who provided their time and expertise, as well as the sponsorship of the OSU Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence (ITLE).
Oklahoma higher education professionals may earn an I Speak R is for Thursday badge and be designated in the R4T Network Directory as an I Speak R4T Advocate. I Speak R4T Advocates are Oklahoma educators who have completed training and are actively supporting R4T students who are college bound or in college. The I Speak badge provides a visual cue to students that this educator is attuned to the journeys of foster youth/alumni and can help. We hope to “paper” Oklahoma’s higher education system with I Speak badges!
The R4T Network Directory will be continuously updated to reflect those individuals who successfully complete training and remain active. If an R4T student is at a campus or planning to attend a campus that does not have an I Speak R4T Advocate listed, a member of the R4T Leadership Team will work with the student and campus until an I Speak R4T Advocate is in place. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us at: email@example.com
Training tracks are available for Oklahoma higher education professionals, higher-education affiliated individuals, supportive adults/community partners, and foster youth (18 and older)/alumni/graduates. Please be aware that training information is specific to Oklahoma.
We encourage you to share our promotional video to invite others to get trained: Click here.

Level 2: R4T higher education professionals’ training
Prerequisite: Level 1 training. Oklahoma higher education professionals may enroll in both Levels 1 and 2 at the same time; access to Level 2 training will be provided upon completion of Level 1.

Additional information is related to financial aid, establishing emergency money with foundation and advancement staffs, and similar topics. This level is not appropriate for part-time student/employees, including adjunct faculty, TAs, etc.
Cost is $10 per individual and includes access to Level 2 training, Level 2 training updates, and regional/statewide meetings and trainings. This level will also have access as we build a repository of information on other hidden college student populations.

This training is for former foster youth or adult (age 18) youth still in care who are planning to attend, currently attending, or graduated from an Oklahoma college or university.
Cost of this training track is FREE for foster alumni
As R is for Thursday continues to work toward supporting hidden college student populations, in addition to foster alumni, additional information and access will be made available.
Paying for Training
