Health Education and Promotion Faculty

What is health education and promotion?

Health education and promotion prepares students to address lifestyle and health issues in a variety of settings, including work sites, health care facilities, community agencies, schools or universities and government agencies. These lifestyle and health issues may include nutrition, physical activity, substance abuse, tobacco use, chronic disease, HIV/STIs, diabetes and/or pregnancy.

Why health education and promotion at OSU?

The program takes a holistic approach, exposing students to all areas of wellness. Degree completion will qualify students for a variety of jobs in diverse settings. At OSU, students get hands-on experience through a required internship within their desired health profession. Recent internship sites include Georgetown Hospital (Washington, D.C.), Tulsa Health Department (Tulsa, OK), Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores, Inc. (Oklahoma City, OK), Michael Johnson Performance (McKinney, Texas) and Ubuntu Youth Center (South Africa).
