Global History of Christmas Markets

This study abroad course explores intercultural learning through the historical and cultural traditions of European Christmas markets. Students engage directly with local environments through guided observation, cultural analysis, and reflective practice while visiting Christmas markets in Europe. Course content emphasizes intercultural communication, historical connections, ethical engagement, and the role of experiential, place-based learning in global education. Through site visits, discussions, students critically examine European cultural traditions while reflecting on their own cultural perspectives and developing intercultural awareness and global competence.
