Combating heart disease
Dr. Sam Emerson, nutritional sciences assistant professor, is using funding from the American Heart Association to research specific ways for older women to combat heart disease. The study includes determining if resistance training can lessen cardiovascular risk in postmenopausal women.
Distinguished research
Dr. Barbara Stoecker’s research in the field of micronutrients and human health has earned her an international reputation. She has pioneered discoveries on the trace element chromium in daily requirements, as well as chromium’s role in lipid and insulin metabolism.
