The Center of Research on STEM Teaching and Learning hosts camps for kids K-12 that build a variety of fun, hands-on projects, and learning.
Launch Pad STEM Camp
This camp will expose students to the exciting world of aviation and aerospace through interactive STEM challenges and real-world exploration activities. Campers will use science, engineering, and their imagination to learn how planes and drones fly, build and test gliders, the basics of rocketry and what it takes to put a person in space. From paper airplanes to high-tech drones and water rockets, this is your camper's launchpad into the fascinating world of aviation and aerospace.
Dates: Monday, June 1st – Friday, June 5th

Eligibility: Grades 3rd – 7th

Junior Engineering Camp
Ready, set, build! In this high-energy camp, our youngest engineers will discover how the world works by becoming "Robot Rangers." Students will explore the basics of the Engineering Design Process through hands-on tinkering and creative problem-solving. We’ll dive into the world of Simple Machines and mechanics to see how gears and levers make life easier. The highlight of the week? Meeting Edison robots! Students will learn the basics of robotics and "barcode programming" to bring their bots to life. From sketching big ideas to building physical prototypes, this camp is all about curiosity, creativity, and foundational STEM fun.

Engineering Extravaganza: Robotics & Design
Take your engineering skills to the next level! This camp challenges students to think like professional innovators as they master mechanics, electronics, and automated systems. Participants will navigate the full lifecycle of a project, from initial concept sketches to digital CAD modeling on Chromebooks, and finally to physical construction. Using Edison robots, students will move beyond basic play into sophisticated robotics and block-based coding. You’ll learn to program sensors, navigate complex obstacle courses, and integrate robotic components into your custom-built prototypes. If you love to invent, dismantle, and upgrade, this extravaganza is for you!

Kids Coding Camp will be an opportunity for children to learn about and engage in coding, including learning a coding language as well as working with Edison robots. Campers will be engaged in small group activities that foster team building and problem solving.

Advanced Kids Coding Camp
Kids Advanced Coding Camp will be an opportunity for children to learn about and engage in coding, including learning python as well as working with Edison robots. Campers will be engaged in small group activities that foster team building and problem solving. Children attending the morning camp should not register for the the afternoon camp.

Camp Science
Embark on an exciting journey into the wonders of the natural world at Camp Science! Campers entering 4th – 7th grades will explore phenomena around them while engaging in exciting hands-on experiments both outdoors and in the science lab. Our adventure will include life science, physical science, and earth science activities all centered around a campout theme.

Adventuring through Mathematics
Camp will provide students with opportunities to explore mathematical connections through building, play, movement, nature, and technology. Daily themes will include bridges to patterns, treasure maps, building blocks for business, and diving into data (to include water activities, weather permitting). Join us for an experience that will re-formulate the way your child thinks about doing mathematics.

Rube Goldberg Machines have become a YouTube sensation! Do you want to create your own? Students will learn the engineering design process, mechanics, and simple machines to create their own Rube Goldberg Machine.
