Testimonials

Mili Jha in Puebla in front of a large colorful sign“I participated in the summer internship research program at Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP) for eight weeks. Throughout the summer, this program enriched my academic interests with intercultural perspectives, emerging research methods, and mentorship from faculty at both OSU and UPAEP. I also gained confidence in myself as a scholar and solo-traveler, and I formed new, life-long friendships with students from Puebla and its surrounding states. This experience will remain a defining moment in my time as a student, and I would highly recommend this program to any graduate students interested in deepening their research skills. My advice for anyone considering applying to this program: go for it”

Mariana Mendoza communitcating with a student in the classroomin Columbia“Colombia welcomed me with purpose and surprises. The goal was to work with dedicated teachers, helping them craft and conduct research. Being there showed me, between workshops, some of the best landscapes I ever imagined: blue water, colorful streets, and coffee-scented mornings. Between professors, peers, and locals, I found generous and genuine people whose warmth transformed strangers into friends everywhere I went. Meals became memories, those arepas, fruits (that I never had before), and seafood that tasted like the beach. Each day expanded my understanding of education, community, social perspective, and possibilities. The experience opened my eyes to a new world of pathways for impact. Today, that spark remains: I continue working with partners in Colombia on a project that keeps this shared momentum alive.”
