Kirschner Trusts
Phil Kirschner, the son of a Polish immigrant, arrived in Muskogee in 1905 and drilled his first oil well at just 22. After marrying his wife, Roberta, the couple became quiet yet generous philanthropists, supporting education and vocational opportunities for youth with disabilities, Jewish causes, and nonprofits in the Muskogee area. Following Phil’s passing in 1981, five charitable trusts were created to carry on their legacy. Their daughter, Miriam, managed the family’s foundation for over 30 years before transferring the trusts to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation (OCCF) in 2013. Today, through grants administered by OCCF, the Kirschner Trusts continue to support the causes that mattered most to the family.
