Contemporary Issues in Diversity
This program takes place in Reykjavik, Iceland during the Summer of 2025. Issues in Diversity abroad is to help tie curriculum together with the local diversity of the host country to deepen students' knowledge and understanding. This course is to expose students to multiple elements of diversity, examine personal beliefs and biases, and address institutional responses to differences. Students will start the course here on campus and finish the last two weeks of the course in Iceland learning about Icelanders, their culture and issues in diversity. (D course)
Program Highlights
- Take a walking tour of Reykjavik and visit Hallgrimskirkja Church to climb the Bell Tower for a view of the city
- Visit the National Museum of Iceland
- Listen to a guest lecture on Cultural Diversity and Identity in Iceland
- Learn about the Immigration and Integration Policies of Iceland
- Watch an Icelandic Handball Match
- A tour of the Golden Circle, Pingvellir National Park, Geysir Geothermal and Gullfoss waterfall
- Take a dip in the Secret Lagoon
