Recreation and Society in Scotland
This program takes place in Scotland during the Summer of 2024. Rec and society class would be a great option for study abroad. This course will explore the influence of leisure culture internationally to better understand how society’s views of leisure positively and negatively impacts individuals, families, and communities, simultaneously. Students will engage multiple resources through readings, meetings, site visit(s), multidisciplinary discussions, and critical reflections through written and video production, on the way’s leisure practices are internationally influenced by economic, political, and social drivers. Students will start the course here on campus and finish the last two weeks of the course in Scotland learning about the Scotland, their culture and how their society views the affects of leisure.
