University Network on Community Engagement
A University Committed to Community Engagement
In 2012, OSU created this network to advance a vision and understanding of community
engagement at Oklahoma State University and the role it plays in advancing its instruction,
scholarship and service missions. Comprised of faculty and staff from across campus,
UNCE seeks to develop and sustain mutually beneficial community-university partnerships
that benefit student instruction and academic research.
Engaged Scholarship Organizations
Engaged Scholarship Consortium (ESC)
- ESC is composed of higher education member institutions.
- Their goal is to work collaboratively to build strong university-community partnerships.
- Each fall, 4 regional winners of the Kellogg Community Engagement Awards are presented during the ESC Annual Conference.
- These 4 winners become finalists for the Magrath Community Engagement Award.
- Oklahoma State University is a member of ESC.
Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU)
- APLU is a research, policy, and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening and advancing the work of public universities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
- The Magrath Community Engagement award-winner is presented at their annual conference.
- OSU received the prestigious Magrath Award in 2017. OSU was recogized for a collaboration with the Chickasaw Nation to study nutrition and public health issues identified by the tribe.
- OSU is a member of APLU.
Campus Compact & Oklahoma Campus Compact
- Campus Compact is a coalition of colleges and universities that advances the public purposes of colleges and universities by deepening their ability to improve community life and to educate students for civic and social responsibility.
- In 2016, Campus Compact encouraged its member to develop a Campus Civic Action Plan.
