Social Foundations
Interdisciplinary graduate program
exploring diverse factors that profoundly influence education
Offering the only master’s and doctoral programs of this kind in Oklahoma, we explore
how historical, philosophical, socio-cultural, political, and international forces
shape research, educational processes and experiences—as well as how education shapes
society. Diversity is a core focus, as is qualitative inquiry. Graduates become higher
education professors, K-12 educators, community activists, educational leaders, policy
analysts, and more. To ensure wide access, our course delivery include online, face-to-face
and hybrid approaches, as well as select courses on Tulsa and OKC campuses.
Expert faculty
and internationally respected scholars
Our internationally recognized faculty explore key issues in the areas of philosophy
of education, diversity and equity, comparative education, anthropology of education,
critical race, gender, and sexuality studies, and innovative qualitative approaches,
among others.
Qualitative InquiryResearch specialization
We offer diverse qualitative inquiry courses, including visual, narrative, ethnographic, participatory and critical approaches to conducting research in diverse spaces.
