Our mission is to conduct research dedicated to understanding classroom environments that support the motivation of under-represented and historically marginalized students in the state of Oklahoma and beyond.

Research Impact

Our research focuses on supporting teachers, including beliefs and factors that facilitate a successful learning environment for English language learners. Additionally, we identify gaps between faculty conceptions of diversity and their teaching practices to increase student contributions in class discussions.

Current Projects

We continue to study the relationship between the teacher and the student and investigate the role of social perception by evaluating the teacher’s sense of efficacy. We also are in the process of creating “The Motivation Minute” newsletter that will provide K-12 teachers quick tips on how to support student motivation.

Collaborative Effort

Our team comes together across academic disciplines to support students and conduct research.
