Promoting positive health outcomes

through age-friendly services and active aging
Our network of faculty and affiliates focus on age-friendly services and engage in scholarship relevant to active aging. We believe positive health outcomes for people, especially older adults, include functioning well mentally, physically and socially as well as having an overall sense of well-being.

The Life-Course Perspective

Health protection across the lifespan
The life-course perspective recognizes that aging takes place within a socio-historical context that differentially provides resources to individuals based on gender, socioeconomic status and race or ethnicity. The lifelong impact of individual choices can have a substantial influence on well-being later in life.

Active Aging for LIFE

Improving health outcomes
This public health initiative represents our commitment to working together toward improving the following factors, which affect individuals’ behaviors and feelings:
  • Longevity
  • Independence
  • Fitness
  • Engagement
