The Scholar-Practitioner is a bi-monthly publication of invited research summaries that target the research-to-practice gap for U.S. scholar and practitioner allies for former foster youth and other traditionally hidden college student populations. The first six issues pre-empt the National Conference for Engaged Scholarship on Foster Alumni and other traditionally hidden college populations, the nation’s first research conference in this interdisciplinary area of study. R is for Thursday Network
R is for Thursday (R4T) is a true research-to-practice organization (often also referred to as evidence-based practice). While informed by national research, R4T’s design and services are based upon empirical research conducted in Oklahoma. Oklahoma college students with foster care backgrounds (as defined by R4T) serve as participants and, through collaboration on research, students are in the driver’s seat, on an ongoing basis, of how R is for Thursday services are designed and delivered. Likewise, R is for Thursday practitioners communicate with researchers about what needs to be studied in order to better inform their Oklahoma higher education practices related to foster alumni. While our researchers publish and present information on a national and international basis, their research-to-practice-to-research work assures that R is for Thursday remains uniquely suited to serving Oklahoma and Oklahomans.
