Our graduate programs bring together theory and research from psychology and related disciplines to facilitate healthy human development and effective learning and teaching. Graduates go on to successful careers as teachers, researchers, business professionals and government leaders.

Impactful research

Our research ranges from understanding classroom environments that support the motivation of under-represented and historically marginalized students in the State of Oklahoma and beyond to studying the effects of communication technology on youth development. Our program is a member of The Scholarly Consortium for Innovative Psychology in Education

Julie Griffin
Julie Swaringim-Griffin (PhD Educational Psychology) was recognized as one of 338 Oklahomans honored with the 2019 NextGen Under 30 Award. She was also recently granted a fellow by the Journal of Research Administration. In addition to being a full-time PhD student, she is the grants manager for the OSU College of Education and Human Sciences.

Kody Long
Kody Long (PhD Educational Psychology) placed first in Heat 7 (Education) and finalist in the OSU 3 Minute Thesis Competition. He was recently invited to become a Wiki Scholar by the Association of Psychological Science. Kody is an Educational Psychology Fellow and McNair Scholar. He was also named the School of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Aviation's Outstanding Research by a Graduate Student Award recipient for 2021.

William James (PhD Educational Psychology) was invited to participate to the APA Division 15 Claire Ellen Weinstein Graduate Student Seminar in 2019.
Christina Reiter
Christina Reiter
Christina Regier (PhD Educational Psychology) was awarded the 2020 Outstanding Graduate Research Award by the School of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Aviation and is a McNair Scholar. She also serves as co-chair for the American Education Research Association (AERA) Division C Graduate Student Committee and was recently elected as the graduate student representative to the AERA's Teaching Educational Psychology Special Interest Group.

Tameko Collins (MS Educational Psychology) received 2nd Place for the 2021 3-Minute Thesis competition and Teacher of the Year at Broken Arrow Freshman Academy in Broken Arrow, OK.

Kane Mach (PhD Educational Psychology) was named 2018 Teacher of the Year at Will Rogers Elementary in Stillwater and named finalist for 2019 District Teacher of the Year for Stillwater Public Schools.

Amanda Baldwin (MS Educational Psychology) recently earned ‘Teacher of the Week’ honors at Stillwater Middle School.

Yessenia Castillo (PhD Educational Psychology) was recognized by the American Educational Research Association Division D for her winning qualitative research methods paper entitled “What Motivates Latinx Undergraduate Students to Persist? Exploring Latinx College Students’ Barriers, Expectancies and Values.”
