Didactic Program in Dietetics
What is dietetics?
The dietetics discipline has a strong science foundation that includes coursework
in nutrition, biochemistry, physiology, food science, management, food service and
social science. Dietitians are experts in nutrition who use their knowledge to assess,
diagnose and treat nutritional problems. Dietitians also use food and nutrition science
to help people improve their overall health.
Undergraduate program in dietetics
The Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) at OSU is the undergraduate program in dietetics
and the first of three steps to becoming a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). Following completion of the DPD, you can apply for the OSU Dietetic Internship Program. Completion of a dietetic internship is necessary in order to be eligible to sit
for the RDN registration exam.

National accreditation
The OSU Didactic Program in Dietetics is accredited through 2028 by the Accreditation
Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition
and Dietetics (the Academy), 120 South Riverside Plaza, Suite 2190, Chicago, IL 60606,
